In this tutorial we will include textareas in our web page's form.
Now that we have learnt all of the input types from the previous tutorial we can now learn another major way for the end user to insert data to the form, and that is using the <textarea></textarea> tags. A textarea allows for multiple line input by the user.
The textarea has a couple of it's own attributes;
cols sets the width
rows set the amount of rows to show
Here is an example of a textarea
<textarea name="" cols="100" rows="5">My Text Here</textarea>
If you keep writing in the textarea and use more than 5 rows, a scroll bar will appear and you will be able to carry on creating more rows.
