Understanding forms

In this tutorial we will include forms in your web page.
Forms are used to send data to the server and then to processed as requested. In this tutorial we will only be focusing on the form layout/tags and not the server side scripting. We will go over the different types of input types and what attributes are required.

The first tags we are going to cover are the <form></form> tags; it is the <form></form> tags that let the browser know that it's dealing with a form area.
These are the main attributes in the <form></form> tags;
Here is an example of <form></form> tags [coding]
  • <form name="exampleForm" action="server.file" method="get" enctype="text/plain" target="_self">
  • </form>
This will not actually be visible as the <form></form> tags have no styles assigned by default.

Now that we know how to create a form area, we can create a very simple label to title the input areas we will learn in the next few tutorials.
This how to write <label></label> tags;
  • <label>Firstname: </label>
  • <br />
  • <label>Lastname: </label>

labels can be styled like most other tags using the style attribute.
